not so much…as…的用法
=not so much A as B =more B than A=B rather than A=less A than B
（1）not so adj/adv. .as adj./adv.
（2）not so much N as N
（3）not so much介詞短語/不定式短語as介詞短語/不定式短語
（4）not so much動詞as動詞
由於形容詞或副詞不能以much修飾，故不可用not so much+adj./adv.+as,而要用not so+adj./adv.+as的結構。
She is not so beautiful as charming.
= She is charming rather than beautiful.
=She is not beautiful so much as charming.
=She is more charming than beautiful.
=She is less beautiful than charming.
（與其說她漂亮，不如說她迷人。）
not so much N as N
He is not so much a teacher as a scholar.
= He is more a scholar than a teacher.
= He is a scholar rather than a teacher.
= He is less a teacher than a scholar.
（與其說他是個教師，不如說他是個學者。）
not so much+介詞短語/不定式短語+as+介詞短語/不定式短語
例：Success lies not so much in luck as in hard work.
= Success lies in hard work rather than (in) luck.
（與其說成功在於運氣不如說在於辛勤努力。）
Our success was attributed not so much to your help as to our cooperation.
（我們的成功與其歸功於你的幫忙，不如說是我們的合作。）
The great use of a school education is not so much to teach you things as to teach you the art of learning.
= The great use of a school education is to teach you the art of learning rather than to teach you things.
（學校教育的最大用處，與其說是教你東西，不如說是教你學習的方法。）

I don’t so much dislike him as feel sorry for him.
與其說我不喜歡他，倒不如說我可憐他.
not so much as…甚至都不＝ not even…

=cannot so much as +原形動詞 甚至……都不能
do not so much as +原形動詞 甚至……都不
have not so much as +過去分詞 甚至……都沒有
例：He cannot so much as walk by himself.
= He cannot even walk by himself.
（他甚至連自己走路都不會。）
He did not so much as thank me.
= He did not even thank me.（他甚至都沒謝我。）
He has not so much as written a single word yet.
= He has not even written a single word yet.
（他甚至連半個字都還沒寫。）
without so much as +N/ v-ing=without even + v-ing (甚至沒有)
例：He went away without so much as saying good-bye.
= He went away without even saying good-bye.
(他走了，連“再見”都沒說。)
