英文字母大小寫(Capitalization)的規則:
時常遇到很多人不知道什麼時候字母第一個字要大寫，整理一下資料分享給大家。
1.句子的第一個字須大寫。
(Ex) The teacher says, “You have to hand in your homework on time.”
(Ex) We deal with several problem in Japan.
2. 星期、節日和月份須大寫。
(季節 spring, summer, autumn/fall, winter不須大寫)
(Ex) Sunday, Monday, Valentine’s Day, Moon Festival, December, Christmas, etc.
3.從專有名詞衍生而來的形容詞須大寫。
(Ex) Japanese, American, Chinese, English, etc.
4. 專有名詞
(人名、地名、公司名稱、產品品牌等)須大寫。
(Ex) Angela, Paris, Microsoft, Nike, Google, etc.
(Ex)Cindy will teach us Microsoft Word.
5. 方位上的定點
(east, west, south, north)指出國家中特殊的位置或地區時,這些定點需大寫。
(Ex) She was born in the North.
6.冒號後引導同位子句
意義上是完整且獨立時，冒號後第一個字須大寫。
(Ex) This is the motto of our company: Customer’s satisfaction is our first priority.(顧客至上)
7. 普通名詞用作特定的名稱
而形成專有名詞時，此普通名詞須大寫。
(Ex) The Stripe, Main Street, Grand Hotel, etc.
(Ex) Our customers will stay in Grand Hotel during their visiting in Taiwan.
8. 標題上重要的字須大寫。
書籍、雜誌、公告和文章中，重要的字例如：名詞、代名詞、動詞、形容詞、副詞(Content Words)
其他；冠詞、介係詞、連接詞(Function Words)
(Ex) ” Healthy and Beauty ” is a title on this magazine.
(Ex) “The Old Man And The Sea” is a novel.
9.特殊產品名稱須大寫。
(Ex) Rolex Watch, BenQ, Travelmate, Microsoft Word, etc.
10.商業機構裡各部門的名稱
(人資部、設計部、、業務部)須大寫。
(Ex) Accounting Department, Human Resources Department, Personnel D,etc.
11.職稱
當father, aunt, doctor, professor, president等職稱，放在專有名詞之前，用來代替專有名詞時需大寫。
(Ex) You had better inform Doctor Lin to come here at once.
(Ex) Do you go to see a movie with Father? (此處指自己的父親)
12.書信中稱謂語
第一個字和所有的名詞須大寫
(Ex) Dear Jeff, Dear Professor Bush, Dear Dr. Smith, etc.
13.書信末結尾語
只有第一個字須大寫。
(Ex) Faithfully yours, Sincerely yours, Yours truly, Best regards, Best wishes, etc.
14.代名詞第一人稱“I”
無論其位置,均須大寫。
(Ex) My father and I go to the church on Sundays.
(Ex) I will go to the party with you.
